About Spabo

The property division of Spabo is organised through the Spabo Eiendom and the Spabo Næring AS groups. Spabo is a part of the Spabo Group, which is owned by the Spandow family. The Spabo Group had a turnover of 1.3 billion NOK in 2019.


  • Manages own properties with values of approximately 3.6 billion NOK.
  • Turnover of 180 million NOK in rental income in 2019.
  • Owns more than 50 retail and dining establishments in the shopping district of Grünerløkka.
  • Owns and rents approximately 400 apartments and 100 commercial units.

  • Is a part of the Spabo Group, with the sister company Amesto.


The property division of the Spabo Group is organised through Spabo Eiendom AS and Spabo Næring AS. Spabo Næring AS and its subsidiary companies: rental of office and retail areas, primarily in Oslo. The company has a dominant position in the shopping streets of Markveien and Thorvald Meyers Gate in Grünerløkka, as well as offering office space there. In January 2016, Spabo took over all of the commercial spaces in Skovveien 6 in Frogner.

Spabo Eiendom AS and its subsidiary companies: active in the development and rental of residential property, especially in Oslo and Moss. The company’s residential properties and apartment buildings in Oslo stretch from Vika and Froger through to Bislet, Grünerløkka and to Tøyen.

In 2014, Amesto moved into the Apartments sector and established The Apartments Company in collaboration with Daci Holding.


This year marks 30 years since Thor Spandow (79) established Spabo Eiendom. He still calls himself an entrepreneur. It just comes naturally.

A couple of years ago, the Spabo Group had a generational shift. Daily operation has been passed to his three children, but Thor remains the chair of the group and  continues to be an entrepreneur.

“We’re all serial entrepreneurs, me and the kids. Every company, every apartment building, is a new entrepreneurial project. We are not speculators, we are developers and custodians. We buy older estates, and renovate and develop them. We build new business districts from scratch, or acquire and develop smaller companies. It’s all about creating value and entering long-term investments.”
